20 Great Ideas to Celebrate Mother's Day

She moans and cries to bring you out in this world but as soon as she looks at you she forgets all her labor pain…She ruins her sleep to comfort and soothe you whenever you cry in the middle of night but she never complains…She sprints all day long around the house after you just to make sure you’re okay but you never seem to give her a break…She teaches you, cooks for you, takes care of your needs, soothes you when you feel down, brings you up with all her energies…She’s none other than your ‘Mother’!

We’ve been so busy with our lives but thanks goodness Mother’s Day is still there that we can just dedicate to our mothers. I for my part feel that we can never pay our mother back for all that love and care, no matter whatever we do for her in our life. But with this grand day just around the corner we’ve got a very precious occasion to let her know that we treasure all those moments and feel what she’s gone through in the course of bringing us up.

With Mother’s Day approaching on May 9 this year I thought I must carry out something special this year, something much better than the last year. I just jotted down some ideas to celebrate the day to let my sweet mom know her true worth. My list goes here…

First thing that right away came to my mind was to take breakfast tray to her bed or may be getting her coffee to bed. Another alternative is that I make a very special breakfast for her with all of her faves. I searched over the web and found DayforMothers Mother's Day Breakfast Recipes  that has plenty of breakfast ideas for Mother’s day.

After breakfast I’ll read her the morning newspaper (doesn’t matter if she can read it herself –no problem am just here for you mom!). She would love it I’m 101% sure about this!

Greeting cards are an expressive way to show how much you love a person especially when you make them yourself and style with your own words and feelings. I usually craft greeting cards myself for everyone adding glitter, shimmer and lots of colors.

Which flower is your mother? My mom is my ‘rose’ and I love her! Mothers are just like flowers, so pretty, fresh, fragrant, smiling, colorful and everything attractive!

Don’t let this Mother’s Day pass away without flowers. I’ll be arranging a bunch of them in my mom’s bedroom with a ‘Love you’ note. You can order some of the beautiful flowers at FTD or 1800Flowers. Sending an e-card a day in advance is not a bad idea at all, I mean if you don’t like to go paper-way, you can send her a pretty, hilarious or simply classic e-card. Just make sure she has something to smile about or laugh at next time when she checks her email.

Just a plain old way of wishing someone, but a very nice way to make your mom feel precious of course –just pick out some heart-warming SMS and send all the way to her. It’s so easy and inexpensive that I seem to be keeping on wishing her the whole Mother’s day!

Although I don’t like SMS sites in general (the messages there never seem to impress me) but still I tried my best to find something better. Anyways I just selected Lovely SMS, FundooTimes, Txt2Nite and TheHolidaySpot. Just make sure you pick the right ones from the messages and even if you don’t like these just follow your heart’s voice…

My mother is not a music-lover but a relevant song for a special occasion really adds life to it. I plan to dedicate a song through MMS but you can e-mail, play it or even sing for her! (if you have a good voice, of course) You can even dedicate her poem if you find out a really nice one.

I know it’s very unusual idea but if I realize for even a moment how much she has to put up with in taking care of everything around the home I’ll simply have no problem with this. I know I’m too busy with my studies and work but I’ll give my mom a leave for one whole day –she will not be allowed to do any house chore! I’ll take care of kitchen, cleaning, attending phones and doorbells, watering plants, mowing garden and all other stuff she does as a part of her daily regime. She must get some rest.

I love cooking and I know that I don’t get enough time for that. But this year I’ve promised to make a special meal for Mother’s Day. There’re plenty of recipes in my mind and I’m still planning the menu for that day.

For me closet-cleaning and organizing is a pretty much confusing job because I’m not much into house cleaning & organizing these days. This thought generated another thought in my mind –why don’t you trouble yourself in cleaning out your mom’s wardrobe and closets as a pay-back for all the trouble you created for her while playing around the house trashing each and everything? That was just enough to motivate me…

Being an artistic person I always look around my house in hope to find some place plain enough to be done over again. Yesterday I just took a look around my parents’ bedroom and decided right away that it needs some redecoration. So, here I am just preparing to adorn that bedroom for my mom (and dad also for sure) for Mother’s Day. But here’s a little change –I plan to give it a feminish look (at least for a month or so for my mom to enjoy).

How many times a day do you say ‘no’ to your mother? Not sure? Just count up the number for a day only and you’ll know the answer. This year I plan to make Mother’s Day a ‘Yes Mom’ day. After all she deserves it since she never said ‘no’ whenever I cried for a toy.

No Mother’s Day is complete without a special party to celebrate the day. So as always I’m planning for a very thematic ‘Best Mother of the Day’ party. The planning process is still in its way and I’m checking out various resources on the web as well as discussing ideas with my friends and siblings.

Whether you’re throwing a party or not, Mother’s Day cake is a must! I typically love to bake Black Forest or Lemon Crunch cake for a special party but for coming Mother’s day I’m setting up something new and even more yummy. A recipe that caught my eye was Coconut Mother's Day Cake that seemed quite creative and delicious.

Surprises are always a great idea to wish someone. I remember how it was like when my parents used to surprise me on my birthdays with my most-asked-for presents and goodies. My mom loves surprises, I mean always and I think it’ll be great to surprise her once again…

You can surprise your mom by buying her a diamond ring that she couldn’t buy being short of money, you can perform extra-ordinarily in your exams, you can embellish her bedroom without letting her know; it’s all about your own choice and creativity, how you want her to be surprised. Just make sure it’s not something very personal or hurting.

My mom loves reading magazines and digests apart from craft books that I’ve always loved to gift her. So, it will be an interesting idea to read her a book. It can be some interesting story, a feature article or even a demonstrated step-by-step recipe or tutorial for her next cooking or sewing project. You can also pick up one of her fave book from her bookshelf and read it aloud for while she relaxes in her rocking chair listening to you deeply.

It’s a very good idea to share your mom’s hobby-time for Mother’s Day because you’ll experience the pleasures she experiences, and because it will let her know that you appreciate these pleasures. Have a chit-chat and discuss about the pleasures. It will surely bring both of you closer than ever as both of you will be observing each other all this time.

At last I’ll be watching a flick with my mom this Mother’s Day! I was yearning for this moment for a long time and it’s just right here. I still have to choose the movie(s) but I’ll prefer something related to mothers or a latest flick. May be I’ll just ask her to pick out one(s).

I love to get pampered, you love to get pampered, nearly everyone loves to get pampered! Got it? Yes, it’s time my mom should be pampered! I know how much my mom loves to get facials by me and I was thinking of indulging her into something much more wonderful that translates to connecting with her in a special way.

I was just thinking about how I can make my mom play any sports when she’s not a bit into them. Yes she loves board and card games but not a sporty one. It’s why I’m foreseeing a nice lovely afternoon tea board game with her.

Arrange for all sorts of interesting games; be they board games, cards, or online games. You can play ‘Truth or Dare’ for a merry time together or any of your family game. If your mom is an adventurous one, there’s no question left to stay at home. Get, set and go outdoors!

In routine-life I almost never get time to chat with my mother in private. If I’m planning to spend this great day with my mother then I must make sure that I give her enough time for a chit-chat. My idea is to make her disclose her secret wish this Mother’s Day. Why? Because may be I can fulfill it some time in the near future, may be it lightens her heart, or may be it makes me think more about her than usual. It’s daring but it surely is worth it. So why don’t give it a try?

With all those plans and dreams I’m heading towards the great day with all my preparations and commitments, may be I can pay her back for all that love and care, but still feel it’s just impossible…at least for me… “Love you forever, Happy Mother’s Day Mom!”
